Climax Jazz Band
Laird south of Eglinton
Join Marilyn at the Leaside Pub, 190 Laird Drive. This is three blocks south of Eglinton at the north west corner of McCrae. (Bus stop right outside the Pub.) The Climax Jazz Band plays traditional New Orleans style jazz and is a legend in Toronto. There is great pub food plus a $10 steak special on Saturday afternoons. No cover charge to hear this great band, only the $5 U KC levy. There is only a small parking lot, but street parking is available. Please register no later than Thursday evening so we can reserve our table. This is a very busy club and reservations are essential. (preferred). 647- 210-5110.

Tranzac Club
Our most important event of the year! It determines our future. Join us in the TIKI ROOM at the TRANZAC CLUB, 292 Brunswick Ave. (just south of Bloor between Spadina and Bathurst). At the meeting, we will elect our five DECISION-MAKING OFFICERS for the coming year: President, Treasurer, Events Director, Webmaster and Membership/Newsletter Director. Please give your nominations to our President Vanessa or 416-465-7532. And we select our ADVISORY OFFICERS: Assistant Membership Director, Phone Inquiry Directors, Past Event Reviews Director, Recording Secretary, and Hot-line Director. We also ask for volunteers to be Phone Greeters. It's not all business! Afterwards we will repair to the bar to toast the new Committee. SEE YOU THERE! (NO levy.)

British Movie
Come and join Christine for a home movie night. Please eat dinner prior. We’ll socialize for a while and then watch The Entertainer, a 1960 drama film directed by Tony Richardson, based on the stage play of the same name by John Osborne. Starring Laurence Olivier, Joan Plowright, Brenda de Banzie, Roger Livesey, and a cast that some of you’ll probably recognize. No charge except $5 UKC levy. Please BYOB and POP. Join Susan (filling in for Rosemary) for great New Orleans jazz played by The Happy Pals, a top Toronto Dixieland jazz band. The band doesn't start until 4:30 but it's more likely we can sit together if we're there by 4. There’s no cover charge, just the UKC levy. At 7 pm we plan to walk across the street to The Red Lounge, 444 Spadina, which serves good, reasonably priced, western and Asian food. Join Christine at the ELEPHANT & CASTLE, 212 King S t W. Free snack platters provided. We meet and mingle near the back in a reserved area before sitting down for excellent pub food like Shepherd’s Pie, Fish & Chips, Steak, etc. Entrées: $11 - $20. Located directly across from Roy Thomson Hall - just steps from St. Andrew subway. For GO train users it is a relaxing 10 minute walk from Union Station and parking is free at GO stations. James Gardens
Join Dorothy and Joan for a hike along the Humber River Trail from James Gardens to the Old Mill and then to 2401 Bloor Street W for lunch at Dark Horse restaurant. This hike is divided into 2 segments – the first starts at James Gardens and is 3 K each way. The second starts near the Old Mill Inn. For the James Gardens start, meet at 10:30 am near the rear of the parking lot (free parking) where the walking path commences. For those starting at the Old Mill, meet a short 5-min walk from the Old Mill station, just past the Old Mill Inn and over the bridge of the Humber River, where there is a free parking lot. Please be there by 11:30 am. Please note that the free parking lot is on the east side of the bridge, not the one directly across from the Old Mill Inn. Dress appropriately for the weather, including suitable footwear. The $5.00 UKC levy applies. Please book with either Joan or Dorothy by noon the Fri prior. For those that park their cars in the Old Mill lot or at James Gardens or those that want more exercise, after lunch we will walk back along the same route.

Mt Pleasant and Eglinton
Join Maureen at the newly renovated club (formerly The 744) near the corner of Eglinton and Mt Pleasant and enjoy time listening to the band of the day. There is a good selection of wine and beer available, as well as a decent menu. Prices are reasonable. There will be a cover charge ($10-$15) as well as the $5 levy. No need to pay levy if you attended the earlier event. From Eglinton station take the 56 bus (or any bus going east) and get off at Redpath Avenue and walk east a long Eglinton (south side) to Mt. Pleasant, then south on Mt. Pleasant, no more than 5 minutes, or alternatively take the 74 bus from St. Clair station (to Donlands) and get off at Soudan Ave then walk north less than a block.
