Join Marilyn at the Leaside Pub, 190 Laird Drive. This is three blocks south of Eglinton at the north west corner of McCrae. (Bus stop right outside the Pub.) The Climax Jazz Band plays traditional New Orleans style jazz and is a legend in Toronto. There is great pub food plus a $10 steak special on Saturday afternoons. No cover charge to hear this great band, only the $5 UKC levy. There is only a small parking lot, but street parking is available. Join Dorothy and Joan at Scarlett Woods Executive Golf Course for 18 holes of golf. You don’t have to be an expert. All welcome! Bring your single friends! There will be prizes for ‘CLOSEST TO THE HOLE’ and ‘LONGEST DRIVE.’ There is a maximum of one prize per golfer. Cost: green fees of $30.50 for seniors and $43.50 for adults, plus $5 UKC levy. Rentals available: clubs $20, pull cart $7 and power carts $30 for seniors, $32 for adults. Power carts can be shared by two people. Prices subject to change. Everyone is welcome and since NO reservations are needed, just show up; UKC levy of $5 or UKC coupon will apply. This will be the ‘19th hole’ for many of the afternoon golfers, with no levy payable. The LONDON GATE PUB is located at 5395 Eglinton Ave. W, just west of Renforth Drive. From Scarlett Woods golf course, go west on Eglinton and about 10 minutes later, just after passing the lights at Renforth, you will see the restaurant in the plaza on the south (left side). Join Irene D. to celebrate CANADA DAY and enjoy a walk on the boardwalk followed by dinner at The Stone Lion, 1958 Queen St at 6 pm. The restaurant food and service are excellent and prices are moderate ($20 - $25). The UKC $5 will apply. Take the TTC to Woodbine station and then the bus to Queen & Woodbine. VILLAGE OF ISLINGTON ART WALK

Join Joan at Islington subway station for a walk along Dundas St. W to see 28 beautiful murals (about 15,000 square feet of outdoor art) in what was the Village of Islington. It is a collection of primarily, photo realistic art that illustrates actual people, places and events from the past which help viewers today connect to the area’s history. Many of the murals are set in the early 1900s. The walk will commence promptly at 11 am. Some free parking at Islington station. $5 UKC levy applies. No need to reserve. Join Susan (filling in for Rosemary) for great New Orleans jazz played by The Happy Pals, a top Toronto Dixieland jazz band. The band doesn't start until 4.30 but it's more likely we can sit together if we're there by 4. There’s no cover charge, just the UKC levy. (No need to pay levy if you attended the earlier event.) At 7 pm we plan to walk across the street to The Red Lounge, 444 Spadina, which serves good, reasonably priced, western and Asian food. GLEN HAFFY HIKE
Caledon
Meet Mary and Arnold for a strenuous 2.5 hours hike. Meet at the Four Corners Bakery and Eatery in Caledon East on Airport Road at the corner of Old Church Road. After coffee we drive north on Airport Rd to Coolihans Side Road. Turn right and follow the dirt road to the Trailhead at the sign of the Horse. Bring plenty of water, snacks, hiking boots, face netting or spray (could be bugs). There are steep long climbs and descents with one or perhaps two streams to cross. Depending on the recent rainfall, these streams could be swift, but normally are quite gentle. After the hike, we drive for 21 minutes to the TOBY JUG in Bolton for lunch. The Danforth
Come and discover the rich history of "The Danforth" and afterwards join us for drinks and a nosh at the famous Astoria restaurant on Chester Avenue. The guided tour begins at 6:00 pm sharp on the N/W corn er of Danforth and Cambridge Ave, one block west of Broadview. We will gather at 5:45 pm at the N/W corner of Danforth and Broadview Ave. The UKC levy will apply. We will then walk westward to meet up for the walk by the purple umbrella. Pleasant, no more than 5 minutes, or alternatively take the 74 bus from St. Clair station (to Donlands) and get off at Soudan Ave then walk north less than a block. ‘EDITH PIAF’

On Tuesday evenings all summer Casa Loma Symphony play in an elegant tent in the grounds complete with candelabras. I saw and enjoyed listening to this singer last year - a French Canadian singer with a gorgeous voice who does Edith Piaf really well. In the intermission it's fun to wander round the elegant house and to look down on the sparkling city from the "Spadina" hill. Entry starts at 5 pm and the concert begins at 7:30 pm. We can meet and have our picnic in the grounds overlooking the city or we can eat at the Terrace Grill or outdoor cafe. (Google Terrace Grill Casa Loma.) Tickets are $30 - please order your own ticket and per-register with Ann at agarnett@rogers.com or 416-447-5239 so that we can agree what time we'd like to arrive and save our seats so we can sit together.
