Join Marilyn at the Alleycatz, 2409 Yonge, 2.5 blocks north of Eglinton. The York Jazz Ensemble is one of Toronto's top nine-piece bands with a terrific horn section and singer. The music is mostly jazz, blues, rock, ballads and big band standards. Alleycatz has a good-sized dance floor so just listen to the music or ask someone to get up and dance. They are well known for the good food and extensive menu. Underground parking is available half a block south on Broadway. Please join Vanessa in the lobby at 1:15 pm when the box office opens. The play starts at 2 pm and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis (Adults $24/Seniors $20, plus $5 levy). The play is The Liar, a delightful English-language adaptation of a classic French comedy: When it comes to avoiding trouble, a servant who cannot tell a lie fares better than a master who cannot tell the truth. Location 2190E Bloor St W (downstairs on the north side) across the street from No Frills, just east of Runnymede subway. There is street parking on Bloor and side streets. A municipal Parking lot is located behind the theatre. Sunday matinees sell out very fast. Join Marilyn at the Leaside Pub, 190 Laird Drive. This is three blocks south of Eglinton at the northwest corner of McCrae. (Bus-stop is right outside the pub.) The Climax Jazz Band plays traditional New Orleans jazz and is a legend in Toronto. There is great pub food plus a $10 steak special on Saturday afternoons. No cover charge to hear this wonderful band, only the $5 UKC Levy. There is only a small parking lot, but street parking is available plus a large shopping plaza a block down on the east side of Laird. TERRA COTTA HIKE/LUNCH

Join Arnold and Mary in the East parking lot of the Terra Cotta Inn. We then drive to the trail head on Winston Churchill Road. Hike about 2.5 hours. Trail is hilly at start then mostly downhill. Expect a steady climb at the start for about 35 minutes and then a moderate walk down to the trail head. Dress for the weather, could be windy and icy. Bring plenty of water, icers, hiking boots, hat and gloves. Afterwards, we enjoy Pub lunch at Terra Cotta Inn. DIRECTIONS: Take Hwy 401 west and turn north on Mississauga Road. After 24 km turn left on to King Street. Drive about 7 minutes until you see Terra Cotta Inn on the South Side, 175 King St. To carpool ($5 return) from Kipling subway station leaving at 10:15 am, contact John at jpett@bell.net or 416-259-1541.
